Definition: block producer


The blockchain node that adds the next block to the blockchain. In a proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain such as Bitcoin, the block producer is a "miner." In a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain such as Ethereum, the block producer is a "validator" randomly selected to be a "proposer." See crypto mining, Bitcoin and Ethereum 2.0.
